Yes, I am probably dating myself by spoofing the ol' Jif peanut butter campaign. Nonetheless the title is fitting! For a little over a year now I have been blogging. During my first year I experimented with all the major ad networks. At one point I even flooded my page with ads in the hopes of making some money and I quickly realized that I was only annoying my readers. Now I have wisened up and I am proud to say that I am now advertising with The Lounge Advertising Network.

Lessons Learned

  1. People are generally annoyed by ads, less is more.
  2. If you have ads on your site, make sure they are relevant to your audience.
  3. If you want to make money, do it by delivering quality content that is updated on a regular basis. The rest will fall into place.

Why I chose the Lounge

  1. The Lounge network also believes in the "less is more" philosophy. They require only one ad on your page that is displayed above the fold. This frees up precious screen real estate for the actual content. Hmm....Imagine that!
  2. If you are a .NET developer then the lounge is the only advertising network you should consider. The ads cater specifically to the .NET community and they will be relevant to your readers.
  3. The Lounge Network is dedicated to advertising only with quality sites. If you become an advertiser you will be in the crowd of other great bloggers like: Scott Hanselman, Phil Haack, Elijah Manor, Alvin Ashcraft, and many more…

So if you blog about development you should consider The Lounge. Tell them that Mike sent ya, and remember.... "Choosy Bloggers Choose The Lounge"!
